Pearl River Girls Basketball Stifles Suffern, 70-24

Pearl River relied on its dominating defense to improve to 6-0 on the season.

Junior Allison Cook sparked Pearl River with three first-quarter three-point shots and the Lady Pirates' stifling defense did the rest in a 70-24 victory at home Thursday.

Cook finished the game with four three-pointers and 20 points. Junior Christa Scognamiglio led Pearl River with 21 points and eight rebounds in the victory. Pearl River led by 37 points after three quarters, so the entire starting lineup watched the fourth quarter from the bench. Pearl River's next game is 5:30 p.m. Jan. 4 at Spring Valley.

Christa Bacco led Suffern with 12 points.
