Pearl River Girls Soccer Defeats Albertus

Pearl River controlled play throughout in a 3-1 victory at home against Albertus Magnus Thursday.

Pearl River started fast, building a three-goal lead by halftime, on the way to a 3-1 victory at home against Albertus Magnus Thursday.

"We played a strong game from the start, winning 50/50 balls and head balls early to create momentum," Pearl River Head Coach Tim Peabody said.

Peabody said the Pirates didn't finish like they hoped early, but brough through on an unassisted goal by Marissa Scognamiglio at the 24:12 mark. Two and a half minutes later, Casey Walsh countered to add another unassisted goal.

Scognamiglio set up the Pirates' third goal with a cross to Kirsten McGarvey, whose header gave Pearl River a 3-0 lead at the half. Lauren Gallagher and Emma Burnett split time in goal for the Pirates, each making two saves, though they were not tested often.

Jacqueline Hennelly scored late for Albertus Magnus on an outstanding feed from Kaitlin McNamara. Albertus Magnus goalkeeper Emily Motti made eight saves.

Pearl River (4-2-1) will play 4 p.m. Monday at Tappan Zee.

An issues conference will be a wast of time and money. So many ' issues ' have been pulled out ofRead More thin air. The people who organized against the plant will just keep saying the same thing. No amount of info will be enough, no answer will be accepted. The issues conference will be a circus of endless questions, ideas, and demands. Haverstraw bay reclassified as drinking water will better protect it, provide an endless supply of water and finally help end the stereotype of the Hudson being polluted Recommend
