Pearl River Girls Earn Top Honors at Six Flags Cross Country Invite

Pearl River was named the top overall girls team among 150 schools at the 3rd Annual Six Flags Wild Safari Cross Country Invitational Saturday in Jackson, NJ.

The Pearl River girls cross country team continued to outrun the competition Saturday, winning the Class D race at the 3rd Annual Six Flags Wild Safari Cross Country Invitational at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ.

The Pirates were also named the top girls team for their five-runner average time of 19:14.0. There were 150 schools total in the meet.

Kelly Hayes finished first overall in 17:49, the second-fastest time ever on the course. Laura Cooper (sevent in 19:13) and Catherine Rayward (ninth in 19:31) also finished in the top 10 for the Pirates, who won their team race with 43 points.

Pearl River's individual finishes were as follows:

  • 1. Kelly Hayes 19:13
  • 7. Laura Cooper 19:13
  • 9. Catherine Rayward 19:31
  • 12. Kaitlyn Harding 19:48
  • 19. Kaitlin O'Riordan 20:00
  • 48. Brianne Garvey 21:25.
