Pearl River Girls XC Edges Nanuet, Both Teams Beat South

Pearl River defeated Nanuet, 26-29, in a three-team girls cross country meet Tuesday at Pearl River Middle School. Pearl River and Nanuet both defeated Clarkstown South. UPDATED with pictures and details.

Kelly Hayes set a new course record with a time of 18:26 despite the wet conditions to lead Pearl River to victories over Nanuet and Clarkstown South in a three-team girls cross country meet Tuesday at Pearl River Middle School.

The Pirates placed four runners in the top seven to help them edge Nanuet, 26-29. They defeated Clarkstown South, 16-47.

"They rose to the occasion," Pearl River Head Coach Dan Doherty said. "Laura Cooper ran a fantastic race, she was our second girl. Kelly Hayes won the race in a new course record, so that was nice. After that, our next couple of girls are all brand new to cross country, and this is the first time they've been in a big race like that and they came through."

The victories helped Pearl River keep up a dual meet winning streak that goes back to 1990.

Nanuet's Megan Young finished second overall in 19:11. The Golden Knights defeated Clarkstown South, 16-42.

Sam Rokicsak was the top finisher for Clarkstown South at ninth overall in a time of 20:15.

An issues conference will be a wast of time and money. So many ' issues ' have been pulled out ofRead More thin air. The people who organized against the plant will just keep saying the same thing. No amount of info will be enough, no answer will be accepted. The issues conference will be a circus of endless questions, ideas, and demands. Haverstraw bay reclassified as drinking water will better protect it, provide an endless supply of water and finally help end the stereotype of the Hudson being polluted Recommend
