Pearl River Hockey Continues Hot Streak

The Pearl River ice hockey team ran its winning streak to six games with a 7-3 victory over Yorktown Saturday at Sport-O-Rama in Monsey.

Forwards Max McGee and Pat Burns each recorded hat tricks for the Pirates. McGee added two assists and Burns had one. Defenseman Gary Healy scored two goals and assisted on another and goaltender Sam Coughlin made 21 saves on 24 shots for Pearl River, which improved its record to 11-1. 

Chris Cunningham scored all three goals for Yorktown, which fell to 4-7-1.

Yorktown actually managed more shots on goal, 24-22, but Pearl River controlled the game from the beginning, taking a 2-0 lead after one period and extending it to 7-2 by the second intermission. 

Pearl River will play Horace Greeley 11 a.m. Monday at Brewster Ice Arena.
