Pearl River Hockey Suffers First Defeat, Falls to Suffern

Suffern demonstrated why it is still the top-ranked team in Section 1 with a 6-1 victory over previously unbeaten Pearl River Friday at Sport-O-Rama.

Kevin Hill scored three goals and assisted on another for Suffern (5-1). Justin Tiso and Dan Demarco each contributed a goal and an assist and three goaltenders combined to stop 16 of the 17 shots they faced for the Mounties.

Pearl River trailed, 6-0, before Max McGee scored the Pirates' lone goal on an assist by Kevin Murphy. After giving up a total of only seven goals in its first five games, Suffern beat Pearl River goaltender Sam Coughlin for six goals on 27 shots Friday.

Pearl River will play Byram Hills 5:10 p.m. Saturday at Brewster Ice Arena.
