Pearl River Reaches Finals Of Alicia Brady Memorial Tournament
Plus other updates from the Kayser-Brady Tournament from Saturday.
The Pearl River Little League team clinched a spot in the finals of the Alicia Brady Memorial Tournament by beating Nanuet Saturday at the Anderson Field Complex in Orangeburg.
The finals will be played Wednesday at 6 p.m., but Pearl River’s opponent won’t be decided until Monday.
Nanuet still has a chance to make the finals, but first it has to beat New City-Congers Monday at 6 p.m. New City-Congers made the semifinals with a win against South Orangetown Saturday morning.
Earlier in the tournament, Nanuet beat New City-Congers, 20-10.
In the Billy Kayser Memorial Tournament, the baseball all-star teams are still playing to determine the three group winners and wild card for Tuesday’s two semifinal matchups.
On Saturday, Pearl River beat New City, 11-3, to give Pearl River its first win of the tournament. Pearl River is 1-2 and New City is 0-2, and the two teams play again Sunday morning. Pearl River and New City are both in Group 3. Both trail West Nyack, which is 3-0.
Nanuet remained unbeaten with a 4-3 win against Haverstraw on Saturday. Nanuet is the only team in the tournament with four wins and sits atop Group 1. Haverstaw, at 2-2, is second in Group 1, followed by Stony Point (1-3) and South Orangetown (0-3).
Ramapo scored a 16-2 win against Suffern on Saturday. The win gives Ramapo a 3-1 record in Group 2. Suffern is now 2-1 in Group 2 and plays Nyack-Valley Cottage on Sunday. Nyack-Valley Cottage is third in Group 2, and not only plays Suffern on Sunday, but also plays East Ramapo later in the day. East Ramapo is 0-3.
The semifinals are Tuesday, and the winners from each game will meet Wednesday in the championship at 6 p.m.
