Pearl River Karate Students Medal at World Tournament

Students from the Mac Albus Karate Center in Pearl River earned medals in seven events at the 2012 Kimura Shukokai International World Tournament July 10-12 at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.

Brian Piatigorski, 16, of Montvale won one event and medaled in two others while representing Pearl River's Mac Albus Karate Center at the 2012 Kimura Shukokai International World Tournament July 10-12 at the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.

Piatigorski helped the Pearl River dojo bring home medals in a total of seven events, winning the Boys Kumite 1995-96 Heavyweight title, taking second in Boys Kata 1995-96 and teaming with Dan Dwyer of Nanuet and William Muller of West Nyack to take third in the Boys Team Kata 1995-97 Division.

The divisions were broken down by gender, weight and age.

Esteban Oliveros of Pearl River finished second in the Boys Kata 1999-2000 and third in the Boys Kumite '99-'00 Heavyweight division. He also teamed with two other Pearl River residents, Danny Costello and Joseph Hayes, to win the Boys Team Kata 1998-2000.

Eric Aristibal of Pearl River, Malcolm Dell and Adam Braff also medaled at the event.
