Pearl River Playoff Softball Postponed Again

The fourth time was not the charm.

Pearl River's fourth attempt to play a first-round playoff game Tuesday met the same fate as the first three when both games at Pearl River were postponed due to rain.

The Pirates were rained out along with most of Section 1 Thursday, Friday and Saturday last week. Nobody was allowed to play Sunday or Monday due to the Memorial Day holiday.

The Section 1 Class A games are now scheduled for Wednesday, tentatively at the same start times. If the weather permits, No. 20 Somers will play No. 13 Rye 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pearl River in a preliminary-round game. The winner stays to play No. 4 Pearl River at 5:30 p.m.

Section 1 playoff baseball and softball games at Tappan Zee were also cancelled, as was Nyack's Class A softball game at Brewster. If Pearl River wins Wednesday, the Pirates would play the winner of the Nyack-Brewster contest.
