Pearl River Runners Medal at State Track

Three Pearl River ran to strong finishes during the New York State Track and Field Championships Saturday at Middletown High School.

Brian Cook ran the 3000-meter steeplechase in 9:18.40, good enough to take third place in the NYSPHSAA DivisionI and Federation competition.

Kelly Hayes broke her own Rockland County record with a time of 4:32.23  in the 1,500-meter run, good enough for fourth in the NYSPHSAA and the Federation. Hayes initially set the county record May 8 at the League 4-B Championships at Pearl River with a time of 4:34.6.

Amanda Moroney finished second in the NYSPHSAA 100-meter hurdles in 15.02, then took seventh in the Federation race with a time of 15.01.
