Pearl River's Hayes Wins Briarwood Invite, Team Takes 2nd

Pearl River's Kelly Hayes set a Division II course record and the Pirates finished second of 22 teams in the 22nd Annual Briarwood Cross Country Invitational in Philadelphia.

Kelly Hayes ran the 5,000-meter Belmont Plateau in 18:54.6 to break the course record of former teammate Molly Shine and win the Division II race at the 22nd Annual Briarwood Invitational in Philadelphia, PA.

The old record held by Shine, who graduated in June, was 19:17.8.

Hayes' first-place finish helped the Pirates finish second among 22 teams in the competition with 61 points. Archbishop Wood won the team title with 61 points.

The top Pearl River finishers were as follows:

1. Kelly Hayes, 18:54.6
10. Catherine Rayward, 20:43.6
14. Laura Cooper, 20:51.2
20. Kaitlin O'Riordan, 21:10.8
24. Emma Haley, 21:17.1
28. Brianne Garvey, 21:35.
