Pearl River's Muldoon, Kelly Win Section Wrestling Titles

Pearl River junior John Muldoon avenged a loss in the 2012 section finals, beating Alex Delacruz in the 120 pound finals Monday. UPDATEd Feb. 12 at 9:30 p.m. with pictures from the championships. Initially posted Feb. 11 at 8:44 p.m.

Pearl River junior John Muldoon reached the Section 1 wrestling championship match at 113 pounds a year ago, but lost to Ossining's Alex Delacruz.

Muldoon met Delacruz again Monday in the Section 1 Division I finals at Pace, this time dominating the second period on the way to a 10-7 victory and his first section championship.

Two Pirates brought home titles Monday, with sophomore James Kelly winning a 7-2 decision over Fox Lane's Brandon Fay in the 99-pound finals.

Pearl River junior Rob Gullo finished fourth at 152 pounds.

Muldoon and Kelly earned spots in the state tournament Feb. 22 and 23 in Albany.
