Pearl River earned a spot in the winners' bracket finals of the 12-year-old All-Star Tournament with an 11-0 victory at home against South Orangetown Saturday.
Pearl River advanced to play Stony Point 7 p.m. Sunday at the Anderson Field Complex in Orangeburg.
Shortstop Jesse McCarthy sparked Pearl River from the leadoff spot, going 3-for-4. Catcher Meagan Woods was 2-for-4, Emily Turilli went 2-for-3 with two doubles and Kelly Campbell was 2-for-3 with a double in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule. Kelli Scanlon doubled and Kelsey Murphy twice drew walks and came around to score.
Turilli started the game and struck out four and gave up four hits in two innings. Riley Maloney completed the shutout by striking out five and giving up no hits and one walk in three innings. Maddie Reynolds helped Maloney out with a tough catch on a line drive to end the game.
