Pearl River used a seven-run first-inning outburst to take control early on the way to a 12-1 victory at home against North Rockland Monday.
The Pirates' table-setters were solid again, with sophomore shortstop Sam Alicandri going 3-for-5 with two runs scored from the leadoff spot and senior outfielder Kristyn Neroda hitting two singles and scoring a run in the No. 2 spot.
Senior Katherine McLaughlin went 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBI and senior third baseman Amanda Hartigan hit a double and drove in three runs for Pearl River (11-0). Sophomore catcher Deirdre O'Malley hit a two-run triple during the Pirates three-run second inning.
That was more than enough offense for sophomore pitcher Caroline Kardashian, who struck out five and gave up one run on five hits and four walks in seven innings for the victory.
Pearl River will play at Nanuet 4 p.m. Tuesday.
