Pearl River senior outfielder Nicole Leote doubled, tripled, drove in a run and scored one as the Pirates jumped out to a six-run lead on the way to a 6-1 victory at home against Nanuet Tuesday.
Sophomore pitcher Mandy McCarthy struck out 13 batters while giving up one run on two hits and a walk in seven innings for the victory. She also singled and drove in a run.
Sophomore shortstop Sam Alicandri singled twice, scored twice and drove in a run for Pearl River, which improved to 12-0 on the season. Senior outfielder Kristyn Neroda singled and drove in a run and sophomore catcher Deirdre O'Malley singled, walked and drove in a run for the Pirates.
Sophomore outfielder Laura Marinello singled, drew a walk and scored Nanuet's only run. Freshman Alana Vezza doubled for the Golden Knights' only other hit and senior pitcher Katie Vallardito gave up five runs in six innings for the loss.
Nanuet fell to 7-4 on the season, 1-3 in league play.
The game matched the two career softball coaching victory leaders in Rockland County history. Pearl River's Mike Carlacci now has 363 victories and Nanuet's Tony Toronto now has won 358 games.
