Pearl River Sports: Baseball, Softball Win

The Pearl River baseball team won twice at Provident Bank Park this weekend.

Pearl River's pitchers took full advantage of opportunities to throw in Provident Bank Park home of the Rockland Boulders, this past weekend.

Starter Kevin Considine and relief pitcher Mike Murphy combined to hold North Rockland to only one run on two hits in a 2-1 Pearl River victory Sunday. The behind a strong pitching performance by John Doherty, who gave up one run on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. 

Pearl River is off until Thursday's home game against Nyack.

Friday

  • Softball: -- Mandy McCarthy went 3-for-4 with three RBI as the Pirates racked up 15 hits in a victory at Clarkstown South. Pearl River improved its record to 4-2-1.

Saturday

  • Pearl River Tennis Tournament - Nyack won the team title in the annual tournament held at Pearl River High School and Cherry Brook Park.
