Pearl River Sports: Boys Soccer Keeps Rolling

The Pearl River boys soccer team entered the season planning to not only rely on its defense, but also use its depth there to boost the offense.

Senior Chris Coughlan, a top defender the past two seasons, moved up to play a key role in the offense. The move paid off again as he scored a goal in Pearl River's 4-0 victory at home against Albertus Magnus Wednesday.

"We knew Chris would give us some output there. We weren't sure it would be this high by now," Pearl River Head Coach Damon O'Keefe said. "He's got an opportunity to finish with 13 to 15 goals on the season. Chris is playing outstanding for us now."

He isn't the only one. Pearl River is 10-1-1, ranked No. 15 in the state in Class A by the New York State Sportswriter's Association. The Pirates will try to keep things rolling 7:30 p.m. Friday at Tappan Zee.
