Pearl River Sports: Cobuzzi Makes Fast Impact

Francesca Cobuzzi of Pearl River earned the starting job in goal and helped Muhlenberg College reach the girls socccer conference playoffs as a freshman.

One year ago, Francesca Cobuzzi helped the Pearl River High School girls soccer team reach the Section 1 semifinals as the Pirates' starting goalkeeper.

This fall, Cobuzzi took over as Muhlenberg College's starting goalie early in her freshman season, starting 14 of 19 games to help the Mules (8-9-2) reach the Centennial Conference playoffs.

Cobuzzi finished fourth in the conference with a 0.74 goals against average, third-best in school history, with a .867 save percentage and six shutouts. She helped Muhlenberg set a school record for fewest goals given up in season with 14.

She earned Centennial Conference Defendive Player of the Week honors once this season, making 17 saves in a 2-0 upset victory over Johns Hopkins, which went on to reach the NCAA Division III quarterfinals.

An issues conference will be a wast of time and money. So many ' issues ' have been pulled out ofRead More thin air. The people who organized against the plant will just keep saying the same thing. No amount of info will be enough, no answer will be accepted. The issues conference will be a circus of endless questions, ideas, and demands. Haverstraw bay reclassified as drinking water will better protect it, provide an endless supply of water and finally help end the stereotype of the Hudson being polluted Recommend
