Pearl River Sports Teams Get to Work

The volleyball and girls tennis teams were among the Pearl River High School fall athletic programs that held their first practices of 2012 Monday.

First-year Pearl River varsity volleyball head coach Brianna Kenna put the 41 players trying out for her team through their paces in the high school gym Monday.

Long-time tennis coach Joan Smith did the same with the girls tennis team on the courts later in the day.

"Everybody is excited. It's the first day," Smith said with a smile.

Monday was the first official day of practice for Pearl River High School's fall sports teams, including boys soccer, girls soccer, girls swimming, boys cross country, girls cross country, cheerleading and field hockey along with the aforementioned volleyball and tennis teams.

The lone exception is the .

Pearl River teams also held workouts at other local facilities, including cross country and field hockey at Pearl River Middle School and the swimming team at Nauraushaun Swim Club.
