Pearl River Sports: Girls Soccer Beats Nyack, Football Faces Hen Hud

The Pearl River football team will complete its regular-season schedule with today's homecoming game 2:30 p.m. against Hendrick Hudson.

Due to Friday's rain, the only Pearl River game played Friday was Pirates' 2-1 victory over Nyack in girls soccer, which was played on the artificial surface at the OMM Complex in Orangeburg.

The Pearl River boys soccer game at Nanuet was cancelled Friday, leaving the Pirates with four games remaining. The Section 1 deadline for regular-season games is Tuesday, Oct. 23. Pearl River is scheduled to play Nyack 12 p.m. Sunday at MacCalman Field, Rye at home 4:30 p.m. Monday and at Albertus Magnus 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Cross Country Section 1 Coaches' Invitiational

The Pearl River boys and girls cross country teams will compete at the Section 1 Coaches' Invitational today at Bowdoin Park in Wappinger Falls, which will also be the site of the Section 1 Championships Nov. 2.

Today's girls' race is scheduled for 10 a.m., with the boys at 11 a.m.

Rockland County Changes for Winter, Spring

Thanks to Tom Doherty for notice of these changes for Rockland County teams, all of which normally end up on Pearl River's schedules.

  • Spring Valley and Ramapo High Schools will field one combined East Ramapo team in girls basketball rather than two separate squads. 
  • Albertus Magnus boys basketball has been moved up from Class B to Class A for the playoffs by Section 1. 
  • The Albertus Magnus softball team is also moving up, from Class B to Class A.

Rockland County Coaches' Association

  • The RCCA's fall meeting, including recognition of outstanding assistant ocahces, will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Pearl River Elks Club. 
  • The RCCA's annual spring barbeque is set for 4 p.m. June 12 at the Pearl River Elks Club.

Saturday's Schedule

  • Pearl River girls cross country at Section 1 Coaches' Invitational, 10 a.m.
  • Pearl River boys cross country at Section 1 Coaches' Invitational, 11 a.m.
  • Pearl River football at home against Hendric Hudson, 2:30 p.m. (Homecoming)

Sunday's Schedule

  • Pearl River boys soccer at Nyack, 11 a.m.
