Pearl River Sports: Girls Soccer Faces Harrison, Boys Soccer, Volleyball Eliminated

Harrison defeated Gorton, 7-0, Friday to earn the right to play at Pearl River 3 p.m. Saturday in the Section 1 Class A playoffs.

The No. 2 seed Pearl River girls soccer team will play No. 15 Harrison 3 p.m. Saturday at home on the upper field in the first round of the Section 1 Class A playoffs. 

Harrison dominated No. 18 Gorton, 7-0, in an outbracket game Friday to advance.

Pearl River Girls Volleyball, Boys Soccer Eliminated

Friday's Results

  • , in a Section 1 Class B first-round volleyball match.
  • Pearl River lost to Pelham, 3-1, in a Section 1 Class A boys soccer first-round game.

Saturday's schedule

  • Pearl River girls swimming in Section 1 Division 4 Championships at Felix Festa Middle School, 2 p.m.
  • In Section 1 Class B field hockey playoffs, No. 11 Pearl River will play at No. 6 Pelham at 2:30 p.m.
  • In cross-schedule football, Ossining will play at Pearl River at 2:30 p.m.
  • In Sectoin 1 Class A girls soccer playoffs, Pearl River will play at home on the upper field against Harrison at 3 p.m.

Letizia Breaks 4,000-yard Mark, Sets Rockland Records

Tappan Zee senior running back Joe Letizia rushed for 260 yards and two touchdowns in the Dutchmen's 41-6 victory at home against Port Chester Friday. 

Letizia became the first Rockland County player to surpass 4,000 yards rushing for his career. He now holds county records for career rushing (4,234), touchdowns (55) and points (330).

Rockland County Coaches Association Meets Monday

The Rockland County Coaches Association will hold its fall meeting 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29 at the Pearl River Elks Club in Nanuet. The event is open to current and past scholastic coaches from the varsity level to modified.

Bridget Cahill of Seton Hall University will speak about NCAA recruiting rules and academic requirements.
