Pearl River Sports: League Cross Country Championships

The Pearl River boys and girls cross country teams will compete for the league championship at Bear Mountain and the Pirates' will play in their girls tennis conference tournament Tuesday.

Pearl River's boys and girls cross country teams both won league and Section 1 Class B championships last season.

They will try to defend their league championships today at Bear Mountain, with the boys race at 4 p.m. and the girls at 4:45 p.m.

Both teams went 4-0 in league competition, but each had one close meet.

The Pearl River boys' closest meet in league competition was a 26-30 victory over Tappan Zee Oct. 9.

Monday's Results

  • Casey Walsh scored two goals and assisted on two more to lead the Pearl River girls soccer team to a 4-2 victory at home against Tappan Zee.  
  • Maggie Davin and Courtney Ocasal each put in two goals to lead Pearl River to a 4-3 field hockey victory at North Rockland. The Pirates improved to 4-7-3 with the victory.

  • Pearl River girls tennis in conference tournament, 3:30 p.m.
  • Albertus Magnus at Pearl River volleyball, 4 p.m.
  • Pearl River boys cross country in league championship at Bear Mountain, 4 p.m.
  • Pearl River girls cross country in league championship at Bear Mountain, 4:45 p.m.
  • Pearl River swimming vs. East Ramapo at RCC, 4:15 p.m.

Wednesday's Schedule

  • Pearl River girls tennis in the conference championship, 3:30 p.m.
  • Pearl River girls soccer at Nanuet, 4 p.m.
  • Pearl River boys soccer vs. Nyack at Nyack College, 4:15 p.m.
  • Pearl River field hockey at Fox Lane, 4:30 p.m.
