Pearl River Sports: Battling Rival Tappan Zee This Week
The softball, tennis and track teams will face Tappan Zee today, with baseball and both lacrosse squads playing the neighboring rivals later in the week.
The Pearl River softball team already avenged one early-season loss by beating Clarkstown South.
The Pirates face the other team to beat them so far in 2013 when they play at Tappan Zee 4:30 p.m. today.
Three Pearl River teams will make the short trip to Orangeburg today, with the boys tennis team scheduled to play there at 4 p.m. and a boys and girls track and field dual meet set to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Both Pearl River lacrosse teams play Tappan Zee Tuesday, the boys at home and the girls on the road.
The rivals will meet for the first time this season in baseball 4:30 p.m. Friday at Veteran's Park for the Kayser/Bellow Memorial Game.

Pearl River at Penn Relays
The girls 4X400 relay turned in the highest finish by Pearl River at the Penn Relays. The team of Danielle Muchoe, Amanda Moroney, Sandra Wilson adn Allison Maroney finished 8th in the small school race with a time of 4:17.57.

The Pearl River boys' 4X400 relay team of Pat Metcalfe, Ian Kelly, Sean Sorohan and Brian Cook finished ninth with at ime of 3:37.29.
Kelly Hayes finished 16th in the mile run in 5:08.07.

Saturday
- Boys Lacrosse: -- Matt Bosco and Mike Zimnoch each scored three goals and assisted on one and Kyle McDonald contributed two goals and three assists for the Pirates (5-7). Goalie John Beckerle made 14 saves.
- Softball: -- Mandy McCarthy struck out 13 and walked three in a five-hit shutout for the Pirates (6-2-1).
