Pearl River Sports: Track Wins League Titles, Murphy Reaches Milestone

Pearl River junior forward Kevin Murphy piled up five points in the Pirates' 8-1 over New Rochelle Saturday at Sport-O-Rama, good enough to fly past the career 100 point mark.

Murphy now has 16 goals and 13 assists this season for 27 points and 102 points in his career. The Pirates' top line continues to rack up points. Junior Max McGee is second on the team with 25 points on 14 goals and 11 assists. Senior Pat Burns scored four goals Saturday, matching his total from the team's first eight games. 

Pearl River will play North Rockland 5:15 p.m. today at Sport-O-Rama. 

Pearl River Wins League 4B Winter Track and Field Titles

Pearl River swept the boys and girls team championships League 4B Winter Track and Field Championships Sunday at the New Balance Armory in New York City.

Kelly Hayes (1,000 meter run and 1,500 meter run) and Kayla Clohessy (55 meter dash, long jump) each won two individual league titles for the Pearl River girls, who won their 30th consecutive winter track league title.

Ethan Dowie won the long jump and triple jump for the boys, who needed every point to edge out Tappan Zee, 115-113. For more details including individual results, read this report on Patch.
