Pearl River Sports: Section 1 Duals at Home

Pearl River High School will host one of the four-teem meets in the Section 1 Duals today.

Pearl River will serve as one of eight sites in the Section 1 Division I wrestling duals starting 4:15 p.m. today.

North Rockand will be the favorite in the quad meet, with Pearl River also facing Port Chester and Eastchester. This is the second competition of the season for the Pirates, who also participated in the Kingston Invitational this past weekend.

The teams that advance reach the quarterfinals Thursday. The final four is set for Dec. 12 at North Rockland. 

Junior John Muldoon (120 pounds) returns as the Pirates' top condender for a section title after placing second as a sophomore. Other top contenders are James Kelly (99/106), Steve Moreno (145) and Nick Simeti (138). Sean McGarvey (99/106) and Jake Kurzhals (113) could both make an impact as newcomers to the varsity lineup. 

Pearl River went 6-10 in 2011-12.

Pearl River Boys Basketball Starts on the Road

The Pearl River boys basketball team will play six games before finally getting to compete at home this season, starting 6 p.m . today at Suffern. The Pirates split two meetings with the Mounties last season.

Pearl River will also face Suffern in bowling, 3:30 p.m. today at Hi-Tor Lanes.

Today's Schedule

  • Pearl River bowling against Suffern at Hi-Tor Lanes, 3:30 p.m.
  • Section 1 Division I Duals at Pearl River, 4:15 p.m.
  • Pearl River boys basketball at Suffern, 6 p.m.

Wednesday's Schedule

  • Pearl River bowling against Clarkstown at Pearl River Lanes, 3:30 p.m.
