More bad weather means more postponements, this time the Secton 1 girls swimming prelimininaries, which were pushed back from Wednesday to Friday.

The prelims are now set for 5:15 p.m. Friday at Felix Festa Middle School in West Nyack, with the championships 2:15 p.m. Saturday at Felix Festa.

Pearl River's Theresa McKallan enters the meet with the third-best qualifying time in the 200-yard individual medley, 2:12.72, the highest seed going in for the Pirates.

Section 1 Soccer Still Set for Somers

No. 2 seed Pearl River (16-1-2) is scheduled to play No. 8 Somers for the Section 1 Class A girls soccer championship 4:30 p.m. today at Somers. The site was chosen as a neutral field before Somers qualified for the championship game.

Somers defeated Pearl River, 1-0, in the section semifinals last season, then went on to win the section championship and lose in the state finals. Somers lost much of that team to graduation, but still managed to defeat highly-regarded Byram Hills, 2-1, in the semifinals to reach the championship game again.
