Pearl River junior John Muldoon and sophomore James Kelly both brought home championships in their weight classes at the Section 1 Division I wrestling tournament Monday at Pace.
Muldoon defeated Ossining junior Alex Delacruz for the 120 pound championship, avenging a loss in the 113 pounds title match last season.
Kelly beat Fox Lane's Brandon Fay, 7-2, in the 99-pound finals.
Muldoon and Kelly both advance to the state tournament Feb. 22 and 23 in Albany.
Section 1 Basketball Playoffs
The Pearl River basketball team (16-2) earned the top seed in the Section 1 Class A tournament. The Pirates are the defending section champions.
The Pearl River boys basketball team (10-8) will play in the Class A tournament as the No. 12 seed. The Pirates open with a preliminary round game at home against No. 22 Roosevelt 5 p.m. Wednesday. I they win, they travel to No. 5 Peekskill Friday.
The Section 1 pairing meetings were held Monday night.
