Pearl River Sports: Volley For the Cure, Cross Country Takes Manhattan

Pearl River will play at Tappan Zee in the teams' annual Volley for the Cure match Friday and the Pirates' cross country teams will run in the Manhattan Invitational Saturday. UPDATED with varsity playing first in Volley for the Cure

Pearl River will only have one varsity team in action Friday, with the girls volleyball squad playing at Tappan Zee in the annual Volley for the Cure match to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research.

Normally the junior varsity plays first in the Volley for the Cure and as of Thursday, it was scheduled that way for this year. Then the Tappan Zee athletic department had the varsity match moved up to before the JV because tonight is homecoming. The varsity match is now scheduled for 4 p.m., though actual play may not start until 4:30.

Tappan Zee won last year's Volley for the Cure match. . The Pirates enter the match with a 5-6 record.
