Pearl River Sports: Pirates To Volley For the Cure With TZ

The Pearl River girls volleyball team won at Irvington Wednesday and will try to get back to .500 at Tappan Zee Friday in the teams' annual Volley for the Cure match..

The Pearl River girls volleyball will be playing for more than a shot at a .500 record when the Pirates play at Tappan Zee at approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The match is Pearl River and Tappan Zee's annual Volley for the Cure to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research. The junior varsity plays first in the Volley For the Cure to allow more varsity parents to attend, so the varsity match is expected to start at approximatley 5:30 p.m.

Tappan Zee won last year's Volley for the Cure match, which was played at Pearl River. The Pirates will try to get their record back to .500 in this year's match. . 

The Wednesday to improve to 5-6 on the season.

Seniors Annette Krysiewicz and Victoria Grix continued their strong seasons. Krysiewicz, a middle hitter, had seven kills, four aces and one block. The versatile Grix, a setter and outsid hitter, contributed five kills, 13 assists, five aces aces and one block. 

Thursday's Schedule

  • Pearl River field hockey at Nanuet, 4 p.m.
  • Pearl River girls soccer at Albertus Magnus, 4 p.m.

Friday's Schedule

  • Pearl River girls volleyball at Tappan Zee, 5:30 p.m. (approximately)
