Pearl River Sweeps Boys, Girls Section Track

Pearl River won the boys and girls team titles at the Section 1 Class B Indoor Track and Field championships Wednesday at the Armory in New York City.

The Pearl River girls team ran their streak to seven consecutive section championships and the boys made it two in a row at Wednesday's Section 1 Class B meet at the Armory in New York City.

The Pirates dominated the girls meet, racking up 127.83 points to second-place Harrison's 67. Junior Kelly Hayes won the 1500 Meter Run in 4:59.2 and the 3000 Run in 10:11.1.

Meghan Keetley won the 1500 Race Walk in 7:32.8 with teammates Kristen McAdams second and Christina Haddican third. Kayla Clohessy took second in the long jump and fourth in the 55 hurdles for Pearl River.

The championship was the first for former assistant Bil Szachewicz as head coach of the Pearl River girls. The full results for the girls meet can be found here

The boys meet was closer. Pearl River won with 79 points to second place Harrison's 67. 

A sweep of the distance events played a key role for the boys as well, with Brian Cook winning the 1600 in 4:34.0 and the 3200 in 9:41.0. The full results for the boys meet can be found here
