Pearl River's Cook Wins Federation Cross Country Championship

Pearl River senior Brian Cook ran a Section 1 record time of 15:45.2 to become the first runner from Rockland County to win a Federation championship Saturday at Bowdoin Park in Wappinger Falls.

Cook's time is also the sixth best in New York State history and the eighth-fastest time ever run on the Bowdoin Park course. 

The Pearl River girls finished fourth in the team standings. John Jay-Cross River,the team the Pirates edged for the Section 1 Class B championship by a tiebreaker, won the girls team Federation title. Freshman Ailish Durcan ran the top time for Pearl River, 19:55.7, placing her 55th overall. 

Corning freshman Jessica Lawson won the girls individual championship, running the course in 18:16.2. Suffern freshman Rachel Ludwikowski  took seventh and Tappan Zee's Erin Jaskot was 12th. Liverpool won the boys team championship, with Tappan Zee coming in ninth.
