Rain Continues to Make a Mess of Sports Schedules

Section 1 was forced to push back its baseball pairings meetings a day due to the number of rain outs this week and this entire spring.

The Pearl River baseball team (12-4) is a game away from winning a League 4-B championship.

Now if the weather will let the Pirates get a game in.

Pearl River is 5-1 in league play, but both of its meetings with Albertus Magnus were rained out this week. The Pirates will try again at home 4 p.m., then 1 p.m. Sunday at Albertus. A win in either game would give Pearl River the league title. Today's home game is also senior recognition day for the Pirates. It is set to be played at the high school, but if that field is not playable, they would move to Veteran's Memorial Park.

The Pearl River softball team managed to get two games in this week, beating Tappan Zee Monday and Albertus Magnus Thursday, but still has one league game left with each of those opponents before next week's pairings meeting. The Pirates are scheduled to play at Albertus Magnus 2 p.m. Sunday. Pearl River is scheduled to play Tappan Zee at home May 23. They also have a non-league game at North Rockland 11 a.m. Saturday.
