Rockland Coaches Association Honoring Retirees Wednesday

The Rockland County Coaches Association will hold its annual Spring BBQ 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Pearl River Elks Club in Nanuet.

Each year the Rockland County Coaches Association honors retiring coaches at its Spring Barbecue, which begins 4 p.m. Wednesday the Pearl River Elks Club in Nanuet.

This year, the group from Pearl River alone will fill out the list with four veteran coaches announcing their retirement since the start of 2013. Baseball Coach Bruce Miller was the latest, following Lorraine Moylan (girls basketball), Laurie Mayernik (girls lacrosse) and Mike Carlacci (softball).

Nyack Boys Lacrosse Coach Eamon DePeter, Dave Sachs of East Ramapo, and John Pardy (girls volleyball) and Vince Louther (athletic director) of Clarkstown South will also be recognized as they retire. Pardy will receive the Joe Grasso Appreciation Award and Moylan will be given the Steve Drummond Service Award.

The Rockland County Coaches Association Collegiate Award will go to Barbara Vanom head softball coach and associate athletic director at St. Thomas Aquinas.
Three coaches will also be recognized for reaching 100 career victories -- Gene Kousoulas (Tappan Zee softball), Greg Grasso (North Rockland boys lacrosse) and Greg Borchers (North Rockland girls lacrosse).
