Update: Pearl River at Penn Relays

Pearl River's 4X800, 4X400 and 4X100 teams ran preliminary races Thursday at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.

Two Pearl River High School teams ran in preliminaries Thursday at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia before stormy conditions delayed the competition, followed by a third after the rain passed.

The 4X800 relay of Kerry Guerin, Kelly Hayes, Maria Kohlbrenner and Molly Shine finished 15th in its preliminary heat with a time of 9:50.97. According to Dan Doherty, Pearl River's girls track and field coach, the time was well off the team's goal of breaking 9:30.

Kayla Clohessy, Margaret Moore, Bridget Sorohan and Patricia Thornton ran the 4X100 relay in 52.73, which beat the team's best time this season by nearly two seconds.

After the rain delay, the 4X400 relay took fifth in its heat with a time of 4:18.52, the Pirates' best in that event this season. Kayla Clohessy, Kelly Hayes, Molly Shine and Margaret Moore ran the 4X400.
