Which NY Baseball Team Should Make a Trade By Tuesday? [POLL]

Tuesday is the trade deadline.

The MLB trade deadline is Tuesday and this year things are a bit different than in the past.

MLB added a second Wild Card team for the first time in league history. This means teams who previously had no playoff prospects now can make a trade for a last chance at post-season play.

The New York Mets are in this unfamiliar position. Heading into Sunday’s action the Mets are 48-53, putting them 12.5 games behind the division-leading Washington Nationals.

However, the Mets are 8.5 games back of the second National League Wild Card team, a decent-sized margin, but certainly not an impossible amount of games to make up with more than two months left to play.

Of course, the trade deadline is also a chance for those teams who look certain to make the playoffs to strengthen their roster. Heading into Sunday, the New York Yankees are 60-40, putting them 8.5 games up on the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East.

The Yankees are battling a few injuries to starters, including third baseman Alex Rodriguez, pitcher Andy Pettitte and outfielder Nick Swisher, who sat out for more than a week even though he wasn't on the disabled list. The Yankees already made one of the bigger trades so far in recent weeks, bringing in Ichiro Suzuki from the Seattle Mariners.

So, heading into Tuesday’s deadline, which New York team needs a trade more?
