Heat Advisory Still in Effect in Pearl River Tuesday

The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning Rockland residents to avoid fatigue, sunstroke, muscle cramps and heat exhaustion during Tuesday’s extreme weather.

A heat advisory is again in effect until 8 p.m., as the heat index is around 100. An index between 100 and 104 triggers the advisory.

Temperatures in Pearl River will rise to 96 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday. The weather will stay hot and humid on Thursday and Friday at 95 degrees. Click here for Pearl River’s forecast.

The NWS is advising the public to drink plenty of fluids, stay in the air-conditioning, stay out of the sun and to check on relatives and neighbors. Try to avoid working outdoors or schedule frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.

The Town of Orangetown is opening a cooling center at Town Hall, 26 Orangeburg Rd. in Orangeburg.

The Rockland County Office of Emergency Services says the steamy weather will continue for the rest of the week. Orange & Rockland Utilities, which has declared a heat alert, warns of potential power outages.
