July 4th Holiday Carnival: Fireworks Light Up The Night In Congers
The Congers FD annual carnival included fireworks display Sunday that jammed downtown Congers.

Despite a weekend heat wave, thousands of people showed up to enjoy the carnival throughout the weekend and the streets of downtown Congers were packed for the fireworks Sunday night.
"Everything went well this weekend. It was very hot but people stayed hydrated and everyone was fine," said Congers Fire Chief Mike Shields. "The whole weekend was great. It looked like we were going to get hit with some thunderstorms but we were lucky and Congers seemed to dodge it all."

Lake Road in Congers was closed from Route 303 up to the CSX train tracks. People lined the streets and set up chairs to claim their spot for the show. Businesses stayed open late and everyone did their best to stay cool on the warm evening.
"We want to thank the Clarkstown Police Department, they did an excellent job keeping things safe," added Shields. "It's was nice to see so many people come out for the fireworks. Everything went well, there were no injuries and we appreciate everyone coming out and making this another great year."
