The second annual Light It Up Blue Rockland campaign begins today.
The focus of the campaign is to raise autism awareness as well as funds for Autism Speaks, a 501c3 organization that funds research and advocacy to help autistic people and their families. Light It Up Blue Rockland raised $15,000 last year.
There will be a kick-off ceremony from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Prudential Joyce Realty in Pearl River. The Pearl River School District also participates in Light It Up Blue, asking students and staff to wear blue today.
Last Thursday, the Orangetown Town Council approved the painting of a blue line down Central Avenue in Pearl River by the Orangetown Highway Department.
