Celebrate Veterans, Support Andy K & Friends

Smokey Joe's Cafe: The Songs of Lieber and Stoller
  • Where: Pearl River High School Auditorium
  • When: Friday, Nov. 8 an Saturday Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. (Special free show for Pearl River seniors 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7)
  • Cost: Tickets $10 at the door Friday and Saturday. Special preview for seniors Thursday is free.
  • Description: The show, nominated for five Tony Awards in 1995 and winner of the Grammy for Best Musical Show Album in 1996, features songs by Jerry Lieber and Mike Stoller.  Over 100 students in the Pearl River Class of '14 will perform songs including "Jailhouse Rock," "Fools Fall in Love," "Hound Dog" and "Love Potion No. 9."
A Night at the Races
  • Where: Hibernian House on Railroad Ave. in Pearl River
  • When: Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m.
  • Cost: $10 per person
  • Description: Doors open at 7 pm. and the first race is at 8 p.m.  The event supports the Lourdes Kids of Rockland, an organization that will send young people with special needs on pilgrmages to the Lourdes Shrine in France during Easter week. Andy K and Friends Fundraiser
  • Where: Pearl River Elks Club in Nanuet
  • When: Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
  • Cost: $100 per person
  • Description: The event fatures dinner, cocktails, raffles, auctions, door prizes and music in support of the Andy K Foundation, which provide financial assistance to families facing sudden tragedies or adversity. Find out more about the foundation and the fundraiser here
Celebrate Veterans at the Walkway of Heroes
  • Where: The Walkway of Heroes at the intersection of Lester Drive and Independence Ave. in Orangeburg.
  • When: Sunday Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.
  • Cost: Free
  • Description: Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart and Raymond W. DeMeola V.F.W. Memorial Post 1615 of Blauvelt invite residents to a brief ceremony at the Walkway of Heroes followed by a tour of the walkway. Camp Shanks Museum will open at 11 a.m. Stewart will lead a tour of the Nike Missle Base and Camp Bluefields. Read more on Stewart's blog here
