The Pearl River campus is one of five main research and development sites for Pfizer. The site's focus is on vaccine research. It currently produces Mylotarg, which is used to treat patients more than 60 years old with acute myeloid Leukemia as well as Prevnar vaccine for pneumococcal diseases and Centrum dietary supplements. Pfizer's current restructuring is removing the manufacturing work from the plant. Pfizer, Inc, which was founded in 1849, bills itself as the largest research-based pharmeceutical company in the world.
