YES, Orangetown ~ Rich in History ~ Rich in Vision... all good in the happenings...
Dennis May 24, 2013 at 06:33 am
Great news for Orangetown!

I hope that after the tax break Bloomberg stays here and not pull up stakes and move to another areaRead More to get more tax breaks. Ironic how one of the richest men and one of the most profitable companies in the world would only move here if it receives tax breaks. As the old saying goes, the rich get richer.....
Ryan Buncher (Editor) May 22, 2013 at 10:44 pm
It isn't just the school district giving them a tax break. The town would be as well, which is whyRead More it had to sign off on the deal. That is in report above. It is not uncommon for school districts and municipalities to offer inducements like this to bring in businesses that increase tax revenue. The Pearl River School District is projecting tax revenue increases on the property all through the years of the agreement, even in the beginning when the adjustment is at its highest.

Thanks, I read both and neither provides any further details nor more importantly the rationaleRead More behind giving such a huge tax break. Why should the PRSD take the deal and bring in less tax revenue when it looks like its the entire Town which might benefit
Pearl River Lanes, which will close permanently May 25 2013.
Gary Sherman May 24, 2013 at 01:10 pm
My family has been in this town for generations, I moved out of PR about a year ago, I spent a lotRead More of my child/teen years at PR Lanes, My parents have been in PR for 70 years and ironically they are closing the doors on their 50th anniversary... wierd..

Walgreens ???? What a stupid idea. We have cvs, shoprite, dollar general. What's the point ! WhoRead More is running this town. At least make the landlord give the plaza a much needed facelift, it's becoming an eye sore.
Stacey Yore May 24, 2013 at 09:32 am
The good part is that New City Bowl is making accommodations for the league bowlers the are beingRead More displaced. It is sad, however, that with willing and able buyers of the lanes, that an agreement could not be made to allow a new buyer to invest many thousand dollars to upgrade an existing business in the Pearl River Community. Instead, all we have is competition with another chain store. So much for keeping the (little) small guys in business! Shame on Rosen Associates

I agree 100%. I was there as well last Sat. and brought my high school age daughter. Most of herRead More White Plains High School friends were there with their families. It was a great day for everyone.

Rob Astorino claims "Families don't go to Playland anymore." But when I was there on aRead More rainy cold opening day on Saturday, I was SURROUNDED by nothing but families - even HIS family was there. They all came out in the lousy weather to have a good time. Parents and kids and grandparents and every combo of aunt uncle cousin etc. you could imagine, all different colors, ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, many different languages being spoken, everyone happy to see the place open again, getting along, smiling, having a good time. I think I was about the only person there who *wasn't* with kids. Families families families. But...don't you know...families don't go to Playland anymore? People love Playland. They want to see it brought back to life as a vibrant amusement park, not dismantled for a grassy field and indoor sports facility.
Laura Harrison May 14, 2013 at 12:42 am
You must be the only person in Westchester that doesn't have wonderful feelings/memories aboutRead More Playland. It is so sad.
Marty May 10, 2013 at 12:59 am
i am in complete agreement! just wait till the trouble starts.

Just what I don't want... a person of low moral character who is going to stick a needle into myRead More arm, and who has access to all my confidential medical information. The attorney general is WRONG on this. (Send me email updates on this article.)

Rex doesn't know what he's talking about or is an obvious mall shill. The escalators shut themselvesRead More off at least 90% of the time due to comb impacts, step upthrusts, handrail inlet guard collisions, etc. You should be more worried that the security guards are the ones tasked with turning them back on. Do you trust that the security guards are trained in escalator troubleshooting? Because it looks like they just turn them off and on again whenever they shut down.
Jody Fox May 10, 2013 at 12:37 pm
No rumors. Every time I go to the Palisades Mall, the same escalators are turned off on the sameRead More days. Some people are all about criticizing the person, particularly when the facts do not support their point of view.
rex merrins May 10, 2013 at 09:25 am
Jody The Nanuet mall always had escalators always broken. I am sure its in their plansRead More to fix escalators The mall is already 15 years old. Sometimes kids push the off button it dosent always mean they are not working. People are all talk and love tp spread rumors

Looking forward to another great season!! Controversies aside, this stadium is far and away one ofRead More the best things to happen in Rockland in a long, long time. Go check it out - a great time for any age, at a reasonable price, in a beautiful facility! I hope they have the summer concerts again too!
Maggie24 April 11, 2013 at 12:19 pm
Yeah, right. "And when we build a new bridge, it will have a one seat ride to GrandRead More Central!!" Not.
emetib April 10, 2013 at 05:37 pm
Yeah right. All the jobs during the Palisades Mall construction were local too. NOT!

Totally Agreed

Just wonder why media tries to destroy someone before there is a judicial outcome. A lot ofRead More homeowners watch. 30 min episode of flip that house and think they know it all. Had a homeowner complain that the water coming off the roof into the gutter was too noisy or another complain Don't rush to bash these evil contractors that just go around ripping people off If pete ends up innocent will they put the homeowners pic in the paper and do a story on how to ruin someones life ? Won't hold my breath

Purchase college has been providing this service at a similar often lesser price. Young studentsRead More came up with the idea to raise money. Park2fly. I hope this does not hurt their effort, even though the parking is needed
