My family and I will miss seeing Niles at the many events he attended with the Finkelstein family asRead More well as of course his smiling face at the farm. The last time I saw him was on the way into Helen Hayes Hospital, where he gave me a big cheery hello even though on his back on a stretcher. That was Niles, a gem of a man. Our most sincere sympathies to all of his family, who need never worry that his name be forgotten. Bruce Gionet, Barbara Finkelstein, Alex, and Anna.

As much as I appreciate your advisement of my fathers passing, I deeply regret that the servicesRead More were last week and today was his burial. Thank you for acknowledging his residence to the town, however, as far as I know there are no more services. His passing was a hard time for my family and friends of whom he deeply loved. As happy as I am of him making front page news on your website, with regrets I must advise he has been buried. Thank you to my brother who had taken the wheel on his services, should anyone want to give anything please make a donation to Saint Jude Children's Hospital, or Sloane Kettering.

I am kind of upset at the headline of this. It is not very respectful at all and this is my fatherRead More in law. It just shows his name and age in bold letters and no other words? I am shaking my head in disbelief.

I am sadden to hear of your late father's passing. May you rest easy knowing his soul is now atRead More peace. Just a piece of advice in the future, when a family member passes it is the responsibility of the family to write the obituary and send it out to the proper outlets to advise friends and family. It is not the responsibility of the editor or members of the patch to do this for you.

One of the many things that I always admired about Seeger is that when he was dragged before HUAC heRead More stood up for his principles. He didn't try to save his own career by naming names. His career suffered for decades because of the courage he showed protecting all of our right's to free speech and thought. When darkness and fear threatened to overtake the land Pete lit a candle and didn't go gently into the night.

It is a mighty tribute to Pete Seeger that all of us know the words to "This Land is YourRead More Land". Pete gave Woodie Guthrie's song to us. Pete also gave us the Gospel song "We Shall Overcome". Another song we sing with fervor. On his banjo, there is a circle of words, "This machine surrounds hate and forces it to surrender." May we all think this way. Thank You Pete Seeger.

Jeffrey Keahon
rockland community foundation September 18, 2013 at 08:16 pm
Jeffrey was a valued and respected member of the Rockland Community Foundation. He could always beRead More counted on for his service and wisdom, and continually pushed to further the mission of our organization. An admired and awarded philanthropist, he was also an outstanding business executive, and was highly regarded by the members of the many boards on which he served. Above all, Jeffrey was a person of immense vision and wisdom who loved helping all who lived in Rockland. He will be sorely missed by the Rockland Community Foundation as well as all the people whose lives he touched.

The term "he made a difference and he will be missed" are used many times. I can say toRead More all in Rockland County that when it comes to Jeffrey Keahon no truer words can be spoken. In the years that I had the pleasure to know him, no one worked harder and was more relentless then he, to make the lives of those who had any type of disability better.

We lost a good man who truly cared about this community called Rockland, and all who reside here.Read More Jeff, you were a friend and a partner in so many endeavors, and you can never be replaced. Rockland is a lesser place without your being among us.

A local legend lost. Beyond his love of family and they of him, his skills brought both justice andRead More closure to so many grieving families. Rest in Peace Dr. Zugibe; you will be missed by many and forgotten by none.

Is there going to be a wake for Lindsey as well or just a funeral mass? want to pay myRead More respects
Marybeth Kravatz Ricci July 31, 2013 at 11:07 am
I believe the wake for Lindsey is today at the same funeral home. 2-4 and 7-9
Ryan Buncher (Editor) July 31, 2013 at 11:48 am
That is correct. Thanks for answering Concerned Worker's question, Marybeth.
