When the state of affairs come down to students walking out of their school to shed light on theirRead More situation gains commendation from our Assemblywoman who says in short; “I commend the students of East Ramapo for their non-violent demonstration to bring attention to their concerns and frustrations regarding the poor building conditions and severe spending cuts, which have negatively impacted their access to classes and programs essential to the quality education our state constitution guarantees them,” said Jaffee." What an insult! Why else would she anticipate violence from minor school children, except to perpetuate a stereotype of their ethnicity, then commend them for not behaving like animals? Then to pretend as if she never knew about the injustices being heaped upon those kids, when she knows precisely the game being played on them. Assemblywoman Jaffee feigns relief that ethnic kids did not behave like animals as she would expect. Then claims ignorance that there may be laws being broken by the very people entrusted to care for these kids? The kids walked out because they said.. no one is listening to them because no cares about them. Apparently, they are right. All they got was a commendation for not being the animals they feel they are being treated as. The solution is clear. Hand-cuffs.

The story in Nyack about a security guard who allegedly said he would destroy the school, or wordsRead More to that effect, he likely, expressed frustration verbally to a co worker, who proceeded to roll him under the bus and got him arrested. That was the wrong arrest. In Ramapo, the school board in fact destroyed the East Ramapo Schools, and they re getting paid not arrested.

Thanks, I read both and neither provides any further details nor more importantly the rationaleRead More behind giving such a huge tax break. Why should the PRSD take the deal and bring in less tax revenue when it looks like its the entire Town which might benefit
Ryan Buncher (Editor) May 22, 2013 at 10:44 pm
It isn't just the school district giving them a tax break. The town would be as well, which is whyRead More it had to sign off on the deal. That is in report above. It is not uncommon for school districts and municipalities to offer inducements like this to bring in businesses that increase tax revenue. The Pearl River School District is projecting tax revenue increases on the property all through the years of the agreement, even in the beginning when the adjustment is at its highest.

I hope that after the tax break Bloomberg stays here and not pull up stakes and move to another areaRead More to get more tax breaks. Ironic how one of the richest men and one of the most profitable companies in the world would only move here if it receives tax breaks. As the old saying goes, the rich get richer.....
