Spring Valley Mayor Vows to Fight Charges

Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin gave a brief statement regarding charges of corruption against her at Spring Valley Village Hall Wednesday morning.

Spring Valley Mayor Noramie Jasmin spoke publicly for the first time since news broke that she is facing charges from a federal investigation of corruption at a press conference in Spring Valley Village Hall Wednesday morning.

Jasmin spoke for under a minute, saying she has been advised by legal counsel not to comment on any charges or allegations against her while they are pending. She said she would fight the charges against her. She then left the room, ignoring questions from reporters.

According to federal papers, Jasmin is accused of taking part in a scheme that called for her to vote for the sale of land owned by the village of Spring Valley in exchange for an ownership interest in the company. She was also to steer state money to the project.

Good morning. I am Mayor Noramie Jasmin. To the media and residents of the Village of Spring Valley, on the advice of my counsel, I cannot discuss the case or allegations against me for as long as there are outstanding charges.

We will vigorously defend against these charges to restore my good name. I’m asking the community not to prejudge me. Rather to keep me in your prayers for my good name to restore.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
